I had a lovely visitor to my research plots yesterday.

Honeybee (Apis mellifera) on Ohio Spiderwort (Tradescantia ohiensis)

Although I am partial to the native and wild bees myself, the introduced honeybee is undeniably gorgeous, wouldn’t you say?

The ones visiting my plots were so golden too.  Really gorgeous bees.  I think my blogger-friend Emily (site here: Adventures in Beeland) called them “ginger.”  I’d call them rangas myself, haha!

Yum, yum, such a delicious flower!

She seemed to appreciate me too, given that I’d provided these delicious flowers for her breakfast.  I really want a photo of her flying.  These are the best I could do.  Still learning!

Trying to catch a photo of her in flight.

I need a faster shutter speed…or something.
