Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue is one of my all-time favourite songs. How can you help but love that sweet and tangy clarinet slide all the way up? It is love at first sight. And then that dancing, playful, flirty piano all the way through keeps you rapt; with your chin in your hands, you can’t look away.
I guess you could say I have a crush on Rhapsody in Blue. I shyly admire it from the other side of the room, and talk about it in an impassioned way to my best friends. I notice when it is played by a particularly skillful band the way one would notice when their crush’s hair looks particularly nice.
I once had the opportunity to play Rhapsody in Blue in concert, although I am a French horn player and not one of the most critical components of the piece. It was still a delight, like holding your crush’s hand for the first time, blushingly.
In the field lately, I have been watching the pollinators on flowers of various shades of blue, and humming that song to myself. This must be Nature’s Rhapsody in Blue.

I love Rhapsody in Blue too. Your photos are super, especially the Borage….what a cool bloom.
Thank you! I really like borage, and so do the bees!
I just had to let you know that I figured out the problem with subscribing to your site. There are more than one place to check your subscriptions on WP. You were marked as never on the one and I changed it to immediately. Hope this works. I so love your posts, funny and informative.
Thank you so much! You are very kind…I am glad you like my posts! I like yours too.
