Squash bees are super cute

This is a squash specialist bee, Peponapis pruinosa.  There are so many fascinating things about this bee but because I’m pressed for time, I’ll just share some photos to show you how adorable it is.

  1. Are you saying the squash bees are different from the honeybees? Here I thought that by having all my hives, I was ensuring that I wouldn’t have to hand pollinate squash blossoms anymore. I wonder where the Peponapis pruinosa hang out in the winter?
