The status of biodiversity

A report was recently published in the journal Nature on the status of biodiversity.  It includes a visually appealing graphic showing the number of threatened species in mammals, birds, amphibians, and insects.  In addition, it shows how many species are recorded as already extinct (765), and estimates of the number of extinctions per week (between 10 and 690).  Well worth a read for those concerned with the biodiversity of our planet.
