Photos from the Feeder: Cardinal Edition

These cardinals are just SO RED in the middle of winter. I first really fell for the cardinal one winter when I was living in Ohio…we had just had a big blizzard that dropped 6 ft (1.8 m) of snow in a single storm, and I was forced to run indoors, on the dreaded treadmill. The treadmills were facing the window, which looked out onto a world that was completely white, like a blank canvas. Suddenly, a blip of colour appeared…a cardinal landed on a branch in front of the window, puffing up its breast feathers. In that moment, it seemed like the only speck of colour in the entire world.




How do they not get eaten? Maybe they’re poisonous
