Sonoran Collared Lizard

My friend and I saw this guy on the Hieroglyphics trail and I got really excited because he is GORGEOUS.

It was 115 F (46 C) and it was HOT so I suspect that is why he had his feet up like this.

  1. Im pretty sure that is a female because there is no darkness on her throat and the orange on the neck means she is a girl because shes trying to attract males or she is becoming gravid. the only way it would be a boy is if it were just born 3 months ago and was trying to ward of bigger males from attacking him. However it is about a year oldbased on the size. but all in all nice Pictures! im surprised you got that close.
