Under the ice fog

Last week, the whole town was trapped under any icy fog for a total of five days…it was pretty oppressive, and the fog affected everyone’s mood. It was coldest and iciest in the morning, lifted somewhat by afternoon (although not enough to show any sun), and then descended heavily in the evening again.

Here are some photos from mid-afternoon, when the fog was at its lightest…not exactly cheery. It can be hard to find beauty at this time of year, when there are no leaves on the trees, but also no snow on the ground. And it’s been a weirdly warm autumn (not that I’m complaining). We look for beauty in all things…
