I was teaching a group of scientists and students how to collect bees last week (they loved it; collecting bees is just fun).  One of the scientists was an ornithologist and he was a little aloof to the whole thing…until I told him about the cowbirds of the bee world.  The cuckoo bees!

“But I hate cowbirds,” he said.

“But you’ll LOVE cuckoo bees,” I reassured him.  And indeed, a cuckoo bee was the first thing he caught.

“I caught a bee cowbird!” he shouted.
