Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris)

These paper wasps have been stealing wood fibers from the fences around my plots…it was pretty easy to identify them as the Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris). They’re a bit smaller than the “yellowjackets” I’m used to in the US, giving me the impression that they are cute, though I haven’t been stung yet. 😉
