You can’t make this stuff up: Silent and Deadly: Fatal Farts Immobilize Prey

Bad news bears: Monsanto Attacks Scientists After Studies Show Trouble For Weedkiller Dicamba

Love this new review by Jeff Ollerton…favourite quote: “the recent description of an asclepiad (Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae) flower from Dominican amber together with its termite pollinator, is both a paleontological first and a tantalizing glimpse into a vanished world of unpredicted interactions”. Other favourite tidbits, Lepidoptera, esp. moths are the most diverse pollinators, as many as 1 in 10 terrestrial animals may be pollinators, but from the perspective of the plants the most dominant pollinating taxon is the bees, hummingbirds used to occupy Europe, and global coffee production is dependent on 22 trillion bee visits every year. True story deal with itttttttt: Your house is a gigantic bug habitat, and there’s nothing you can do about it

Here’s this news…depending on how you feel about the state of the evidence, good news: UK will back total ban on bee-harming pesticides, Michael Gove reveals

Neonics can also impair the navigation of migratory birds (who may be exposed by consuming treated seeds): Imidacloprid and chlorpyrifos insecticides impair migratory ability in a seed-eating songbird

  1. “How Do You Weaponize a Fart” best quote ever lol. seriously great stuff there haha once i got a whiff i couldnt stop reading…

  2. I had to forward the fart article to someone who is not an insect that could probably use his farts in self-defense. I’m not naming names. The Monsanto article was good and I read one of the links there. Absolutely shortsightedness at its peak.
