Reed bunting

I spotted this gorgeous reed bunting the other day when I was exploring in the snow. She was stripping seeds off the grass sticking above the snow and occasionally she would hop onto a stem to knock it to the ground so she could get the seed head. I couldn’t get a good photo of this behaviour, but I do have a blurry one to give you the idea.

  1. Great shots. I have seen bullfinches doing something similar, sitting on a fence, where tall grassed were in relatively easy reach.
